From belief to betrayal: How America fell for Lance Armstrong
Thu Jan 17, 2013
The news media makes steroids seem like amazing wonder drugs, like if I took them suddenly I could win the Tour de France or the Olympics. Give me a break. Lance Armstrong is a world-class athlete even without "extra" help.
Number of working poor rises amid widening wealth gap, study shows
Tue Jan 15, 2013
I am self-employed. Business has not improved in the last several years, as clients continue to go under or take 60-plus days to pay even small bills. Money is tighter than it has ever been, and I see no improvement coming. But there are no jobs around that pay even close to the small amount the bus …
Feds want to turn up the volume on battery cars
Wed Jan 9, 2013
This is a good idea! I would sit at bank windows with the hybrid and nobody would know I was there! My sister put a bicycle bell on her Prius. If you're not used to a hybrid, you can't even tell it's on.
Cable subscribers are about to get a sneaky fee
Sun Dec 9, 2012
Cablevision did this last year. Every TV in the house has a box. We fought and got one free year on the added boxes. After that, $10/month to be able to even use the TV. FIOS, where are you?

And those businesses whose clients are mostly in Sandy-affected areas and who suddenly have no work or way to pay bills. We …
Fall back: The science of daylight saving time
Sat Nov 3, 2012
I think that more people are likely to be hit by cars walking home in the dark than children waiting for a bus in the morning. In my house the bus-waiters would rather have the extra light in the afternoon.
Weed wars: If states legalize marijuana, will feds still crack down or steer clear?
Sun Nov 4, 2012
Treat it like alcohol. Legal age, not while driving or working. What's the problem?
Gas prices roar to California record, hitting average of $4.614 per gallon
Sat Oct 6, 2012
Gas is $4.65 here in New York's lovely Hudson Valley. That is, high-test, which my hybrid requires. Kind of defeats the purpose.
Middle class -- whatever it is -- targeted by candidates
Mon Oct 8, 2012
The middle class has the ability to help itself. In other words, when work needs to be done on the house, a middle class person can go to the bank and get a loan. When it's time for a vacation, the money is in the bank. Medical insurance is in place. Children are clothed and not hungry, and they hav …
